Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Applied

Our application process is simple, we just ask you to answer a few questions and upload your CV. We already have a chatbot on the team called Ruby 🤖 so we're hoping to hire a human for this vacancy. We’ve found applications created using AI lack this personal insight or enthusiasm. Instead of relying on tools like ChatGPT, we recommend sharing details of personal experiences, interests, and relevant projects in your own writing style.

Once we've reviewed your application, we'll be in touch to let you know if you're progressing to the next stage. We aim to get back to you within a few days. If you’re still wondering whether to submit your application, read our blog post featuring our Support Team to find out more!

Stage 2

Online exercise

This online exercise includes some questions to assess your spelling and grammar, and a few to evaluate your knowledge of accounting terminology. It will also give us some insight into how you would respond to our lovely customers.
Stage 3

Phone interview

We'll send you a calendar link to book a 20 - 30 min phone interview with the Talent Team.

This stage covers
- your CV in more detail
- the reasons behind your career choices to date
- your motivations and interest in the role and FreeAgent generally
- your strengths and development areas
- a few questions about your relevant experience

If you’d like to discuss any reasonable adjustments relating to the role or the recruitment process you can let us know in any of the following ways
- email talent@freeagent.com
- in your application
- during the phone interview itself
Stage 4

First interview

A structured video interview with senior members of the support team. Around one hour, the purpose is to assess your interest in the role and your relevant knowledge, skills and experience.

We'll pay particular attention to your accounting knowledge, whether that's gained through experience, studies or using systems. You might even have used FreeAgent before!

Remember this is a customer focussed, team based role so we'll also want to know how effective you are at helping customers and putting them at ease, as well as working with others to achieve the best outcome possible.

This stage is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about the role, or life on the FreeAgent support team.
Stage 5

Final interview

Ahead of the interview, we'll invite you to complete a short (typically 8 minutes) online behavioural assessment. The results provide insight into how a person tends to operate in their role, and how they prefer to communicate and interact with others in the workplace. This insight helps ensure we make the most of the time during the interview.

The interview itself is held in our lovely office and lasts around one hour. In this session we will cover similar themes to the previous interview, but going into more depth. We also encourage you to bring any questions you have to make sure the opportunity feels right for you!
Stage 6

Offer

If you're successful and we offer you the position then you can sit back and enjoy our carefully planned preboarding experience, before starting in your exciting new role!
