Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Applied

We love our chatbot Ruby 🤖 but we're hoping to hire a human for this vacancy. We'd therefore like to read your own thoughts and words in your application, not those generated by an AI tool.

Once we've reviewed your application, we'll be in touch to let you know if you're progressing to the next stage. We aim to get back to you within a few days. If you’re a little unsure how to approach job applications then good news… we’ve written a blog all about how we hire in Engineering!

Stage 2

Coding test

We'll send you our coding challenge to complete in your own time. We typically advise spending no more than a few hours on the task. Your submission will be reviewed anonymously by a few of our of engineers.
Stage 3

Phone interview

We'll send you a calendar link to book a 20 - 30 min phone interview with the Talent Team.

This stage covers
- your CV in more detail
- the reasons behind your career choices to date
- your motivations and interest in the role and FreeAgent generally
- your strengths and development areas
- a few questions about your relevant experience

Stage 4

Final Interview

A video interview covering your approach and design decisions to the coding test. We'll also ask you some competency questions focussed on the behaviours required to work effectively in a team. You can also use this time to find out more about how the engineering team work or anything else you'd like to know about FreeAgent.
Stage 5

Offer

If you're successful and we offer you the position then you can sit back and enjoy our carefully planned preboarding experience, before starting in your exciting new role!
