- We're hoping to hire a human for this vacancy, so we’d like to see your own thoughts and experiences in your application, not those generated by an AI tool

Phone interview ☎️
Location: Phone interview using Google Meet audio (calendar link with options)
Who you’ll meet: A member of the Talent Team
Duration: Around 30 minutes
Focus areas: We’ll ask about your career journey, your interest in the role and relevant skills and experience

Home exercise ✏️
We'll ask you to complete a take home exercise which will provide us with a good understanding of your approach to data engineering.
Your submission will also form part of the discussion with the hiring team at the next stage of the process.

- Stage 4
First interview 🖥️
Location: Video interview on Google Meet
Who you’ll meet: Members of the engineering team
Duration: Around one hour
Focus areas: We'll discuss your approach to the take home exercise, looking to understand how you solve problems. Then we'll ask some questions about your skills and experience that are most relevant to this role. We're a well integrated team so we're also interested to see how you collaborate with those on the call and communicate your thoughts. This stage is a great opportunity for you to ask questions about the role, or life on the FreeAgent data platform team.

Final interview 🏢
Location: For hybrid roles this will be a face to face interview in our office at Edinburgh Quay, EH3 9QG
Who you'll meet: Some Engineering managers and members of the team
Duration: 2 interviews, one is 90 mins and the other 60 mins, with a break in between
Focus areas: In the technical session we'll ask you to talk through an application or project that you're familiar with for about 10 minutes. Many people share a sketch of a diagram to aid this part of the conversation. After that we'll ask some follow up questions to understand more, and then move on to some more general technical questions relevant to the role and the work involved.
The behavioural interview will focus more on how you contribute to healthy team dynamics alongside examples that illustrate the opportunities you've had for personal and professional growth.

Offer 🎉
If you're successful and we offer you the position then our carefully planned preboarding experience will begin.
Together we'll work through getting the contract signed and gathering essential documentation including proof of ID, proof of address and right to work documentation. Offers of employment are also subject to references for which we use a third party to verify your previous employment history.
