John Fredrickson

I am responsible for both overseeing the day-to-day management and future direction of the platform teams. At FreeAgent, Platform focuses are building and maintaining a reliable cloud platform for our products, building tools to maintain a happy and productive development team, owning the data science, data engineering and analytics capabilities of the business, as well as evolving and maintaining our excellence in cross-cutting software architecture.

FreeAgent has the energy and enthusiasm of a small company, despite being over 250 employees now. We sometimes work on challenging projects, but everyone is friendly and supportive and we really care about our people. We all try to do the best for each other at work.

After several years as an individual contributor web systems administrator and database specialist, I was keen to try a position as a team manger. I've gradually managed larger and more distributed teams, working in a variety of organisations, and I've been lucky enough to spend time working in 12 different countries. 

I'm passionate about increasing diversity in technology roles, and supporting people's progression in technology, whether that's by professional growth within a role area, or trying different roles.
