What I do at FreeAgent
I'm here to help FreeAgent's talented team of writers as they craft all our excellent, engaging content to support and engage our customers and help us hit our business goals. Our team of content specialists set the content strategy and work closely with our communications, product and support teams to create the ideas and feed the channels that raise awareness of FreeAgent and acquire, engage and support customers.
Why FreeAgent
One of the things that drew me to FreeAgent was that content was obviously a core part of the whole marketing and communications plan - not a luxury or an afterthought. It's great (and not that common) to have a whole team dedicated to content from a range of backgrounds but with a shared love of playing around with words and being pedantic over punctuation.
Who am I?
I joined FreeAgent as Lead Editor in the small business stream before becoming Managing Editor. I originally trained as a journalist and worked in various roles in newspapers. After that I joined a content marketing agency working with clients in financial services, food & drink, oil & gas, politics and more, before shifting to financial services where I worked on customer content. But one of the great things about FreeAgent's Content team is how varied everyone's background is - arriving with us via roles in marketing, journalism, accounting, education, social media and all points between.
Advice for prospective candidates
The Content team's work is all over the FreeAgent website. The blog, the Knowledge Base, the customer stories, the feature pages, the guides, the events and webinars, the glossary, even the legal notices and the cookie pop-up - we've had a hand in them all. So if you want to get a handle on what we do, there's plenty there to read up on.
